The AKC believes
a responsible owner is as important as a well behaved dog.
Thus
before taking the Canine Good Citizen test, the owners will
be asked sign the Responsible Dog Owners Pledge. By signing
the pledge, owners agree to take care of their dog's health
needs, safety, exercise, training and quality of life.
Owners also agree to show responsibility by doing things
such as cleaning up after their dogs in public places and
never letting dogs infringe on the rights of others.
For successfully
completing each station and submitting the completed
application the dog will earn an official certificate from
the AKC and can use the title CGC and the end of their
registered name.
Usually a couple of times a year the
club will hold testing here in the Columbia area. Check back
here for future details or email
Faye Erickson
for more details about upcoming
testing sessions.
